Unasur adds 30 infrastructure investment projects

Hatcher Updated 23/11/2012 10:47 pm in Business / no commentsLIMA, Nov. 22 — The Union of South American Nations (Unasur) has unveiled 30 new infrastructure investment projects valued at an estimated 13 billion U.S. dollars, the Peruvian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
Peru currently holds Unasur’ s presidency and will host the Sixth Unasur Summit next week, which will give priority to infrastructure projects linked to transportation and integration.
Unasur has undertaken at least 531 infrastructure projects, with an estimated investment of about 116 billion dollars in the region, according to the organization’s Secretary General Ali Rodriguez.
At the summit, the bloc will also propose an agenda of projects devised to eradicate child labor, fight inequality and generate productive employment.
Other issues to be discussed are social rights and regional security and defense.
Unasur groups Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
