Apple asks accessories manufacturers to lower its price
(NZweek) – According to Taiwan media, news from market showed the Apple demands its accessories suppliers to lower the price, and partial manufacturers of touch panels and circuit boards have reduced 10% price. The industry insiders predict that Apple might ask its suppliers to lower the price again with the increasing of third quarter sales.
It is learned from the insiders that Apple iPad 2 is the panel PC with the largest market share, its sales in the second quarter was 8 million, increased by 70% than the first quarter. With the increase of sales, Apple will ask its suppliers to lower the price for the benefits of the customers. Major accessories manufacturers of Apple, including soft and hard board, optical components, battery module as well as touch panel, are faced with the pressure of lowering the price.
News from the market showed that Apple wants its circuit board manufacturer to reduce 20% price; exposed by some circuit board manufacturers that Apple did ask them to reduce 10% price in April, but a sudden decrease of 20% is impossible.
According the market prediction, the sales of iPad 2 in third quarter might surpass ten million, challenging the goal of 12 million and set a record of sales since iPad entered mass production last year.
