Airstrike kills Taliban commander in S. Afghanistan

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Oct. 3 (Xinhua)– A Taliban commander named Mullah Sadeq was killed as NATO-led forces’ aircraft pounded militants’ hideout in Nad Ali district of Helmand province, 555 km south of capital Kabul on Tuesday, spokesman of provincial administration Ahmad Zirak said Wednesday.

“Mullah Sadeq known as Mullah Abid who served as Taliban shadowy governor in Nad Ali district and organized roadside bombings against Afghan and NATO-led troops was killed by NATO-led aircrafts’ attack yesterday,” Zirak told Xinhua.

Taliban militants fighting the government and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment.
